Wednesday Jan 11 - That Awkward Moment...

round the bird

Route #2

This week we continue our 12 week cycle with Route #2: 'Round the Bird.  Also known as 'The Awkward Moment' because this is a figure-8 route that crosses over itself. Be sure to high five each other as you cross! We meet at the corner of 11th & Holly at 6pm. We run every Wednesday - rain or shine, sweltering heat or bitter cold. If you are a run/walker and want to get a head start, meet at 5:45pm and join the Lasty Nasties. It's still dark out for the run so please be sure to wear something that creates or reflects light! READ HERE for more info on how our Wednesday night runs work.

2017 Half and Full Marathon Training

It's not too late to join our 2017 Half and Full Marathon Training. Get all the details on our website and sign up! Then join us this Saturday morning for week 2 of training. The Training Program is FREE and open to anyone – the only requirement is that you are already able to run 5 miles without stopping (8 miles for the full marathon training).

Volunteer to Clean the Cups and you can win $100!

Don't forget about our new cup cleaning volunteer and raffle prize set up! We have had good response so far but still have a handful of spots this quarter to fill. Volunteer and qualify for the $100 gift card prize while you can!

Everyone that signs up for a week to clean the cups (and posts a photo proving they washed them) will be entered to win a $100 gift card to Nashville Running Company. The more you volunteer, the more chances you get to win. We will draw a winner at the end of every quarter – so you have a 1-in-12 chance to win if you volunteer, a 2-in-12 chance if you volunteer twice, etc. Big thanks to Schaffer Law Firm for sponsoring this program!

Here’s how it works: 1) Sign up on the Google doc. 2) Take the cups home. 3) Wash them. 4) Post a pic on social media showing you washed them and tag our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. 5) Bring the cups back to the run the next week.

Back to the Beginning - Route #1

It's the first Wednesday night of 2017! We will start at the beginning of our 12 week cycle with Route #1: One Hilly 5(ish)K. (It's actually not quite a 5K, but just 3 miles. Thus the "ish") We meet at the corner of 11th & Holly at 6pm. Meet at 5:45pm and join the Lasty Nasties if you are a run/walker and want to get a head start. This is a great week to invite someone new! If you do, remind them to please be sure to wear something that creates or reflects light! This is also a great week to READ HERE for info on how our Wednesday night runs work.

2017 Half and Full Marathon Training

Our 2017 Half and Full Marathon Training begins THIS weekend! Get all the details on our website and sign up! Then join us for the first long run on Saturday at 8am. Running Stores

Need to gear up before training starts? Nashville is home to some great specialty running stores!

Nashville Running Company is right around the corner from our meeting spot. Each first Wednesday of the month they host a Pint Night just for East Nasty immediately after the run - that's THIS Wednesday! NRC always offers an everyday 10% discount for East Nasty runners.

Fleet Feet Sports has been a staple in the Nashville running community for years. THIS Thursday, January 5th, come by Fleet Feet Sports Green Hills between 6pm and 8pm to gear up for marathon and half marathon training this spring  - and 20% of all sales during that time period will be donated back to East Nasty!

All New Cup Cleaning - with PRIZES!

We've got a few new things coming your way in 2017. The first is changing up the cup cleaning volunteering. In short, we're adding an incentive. A big one. The first year that East Nasty existed we probably went through 150+ paper cups every week. So, we decided that we would purchase plastic cups to reduce the amount of trash that we were producing. The only challenge is that we have to wash them every week. So we need volunteers to wash the cups. We've been doing it this way for years.

Here's the new twist for 2017: Everyone that signs up for a week to clean the cups (and posts a photo proving they washed them) will be entered to win $100 gift card to NRC. The more you volunteer, the more chances you get to win. We will draw a winner at the end of every quarter - so you have a 1-in-12 chance to win if you volunteer, a 2-in-12 chance if you volunteer twice, etc. Big thanks to Schaffer Law Firm for sponsoring this program!

Here's how it works: 1) Sign up on the Google doc. 2) Take the cups home. 3) Wash them. 4) Post a pic on social media showing you washed them and tag our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. 5) Bring the cups back to the run the next week.

Leading a training group is a great way to give back, a lot of fun – and a commitment. As a thank you, we will reimburse you for your race entry fee. Interested? Email our Half Marathon Training Coordinator David Harris at David@eastnastyforlife.com for more specifics.

Rock n Roll Races Registration Price Increase Tomorrow!

Our target race for training is the St. Jude Rock ‘N’ Roll Nashville race on April 29, 2017. If you haven't registered for the race yet, do it today (December 31st) and avoid the January 1st price increase. Click here to sign up today!

Route #1

We meet at the corner of 11th & Holly at 6pm (and 6am). Meet at 5:45pm and join the Lasty Nasties if you are a run/walker and want to get a head start. Please be sure to wear something that creates or reflects light! After running The Nasty last week, we have completed our cycle of 12 routes - but we still have a few odd weeks left in the year. So, this week we will run Route #1 because its simple and short and afterwards we invite you to join us at...

Christmas Party 2016

Each year, East Nasty hosts a Christmas gathering to celebrate the past year, and look forward to the new one. This Wednesday night, immediately after finishing the run, everyone is invited down the street to 1306 Woodland (the home of Gretchen and Phil Zimmerman).  We’ll have soup (white chicken chili and a vegan butternut squash), beer (courtesy of Nashville Running Company) and maybe some desserts. We’ll also have some leftover East Nasty gear for sale. All we ask is that you bring $10 (this allows us to renew our insurance and membership with the Road Runners Club of America, and helps offset the cost of the party.) Everyone is welcome, even if you can’t make the run that night or even if you forget your $10. Just join us at the party which will start right after the run. The Zimmermans house is great with lots of places to hang out and chat with each other - just try to keep the hallways clear. Theres plenty of room on the deck, the downstairs club room and the back patio. We will have a couple outdoor heat lamps going. Be sure to say 'thanks' to Phil and Gretchen for hosting!

Parking Alert

One thing we want you to be aware of is that there will be a film crew blocking off all of Woodland Street on Wednesday while filming something at Mad Donnas at the corner of 14th & Woodland. Some sort of reality TV show covering the rebranding of the restaurant. Hopefully this won't inconvenience us too much. Just get to the run as early as you can, find a parking spot in and around 5 Points (Beware of no parking signs, fire hydrants and corners. Don't be a jerk parker.) or even pay for one in one of the lots, and then just walk down to the party after the run. If we get new details that alter any of that, we will post them here.
