Route #10

Wednesday, 6pm at the corner of 11th and Holly in East Nashville.

It's dark.  Don't assume the people around you are going to be lit up... If you don't own any reflective gear, head over to NRC before the run to get some.

I love this route, but there is one place in particular that you need to be careful:  (1) When you turn left onto 14th from Sevier, you need to cross the street and run on the sidewalk on the right side of the road.   (2)Be very careful crossing 14th.  For those of you who know the area, make sure you alert those around you.

Route #10: The Electric Slide

We are planning our first destination race to Chattanooga the weekend of March 4 - 6.   There is a 5k, half marathon, full marathon and a marathon relay.  We have a discount code for 20% off ("eastnasty"), and there are some great deals on hotels.     Finally, if you are joining us for half/full marathon training, this race fits in perfectly!    Here is more information.

PR Bandits Saturday Morning Run – Edwin Warner Harpeth River Greenway

East Nasty is partnering with the ‘PR Bandits’ who are hosting supported long runs on Saturday mornings. However, due to a few big races going on this weekend, a number of people are gone and this route with be SELF SUPPORTED. We will meet at Edwin Warner park this weekend (pull in the lot to the right off the main drive) at 7:30am and hit the Harpeth River Greenway. It curls around Ensworth and then follows along the river. It's a nice, fairly new greenway where you are able to get mileage of your choosing.

Wednesday, November 4th: Pace Leaders...

Pace Leaders... Starting in January, the 2016 edition of our Rock n' Roll Half or Full Marathon training will begin. Right now we are looking for some volunteers pace leaders.  Pace leaders train a group to run a specific goal pace for the half marathon, and will finish the training by leading them through the race.   Leading a training group is a great way to give back, not to mention a lot of fun.  And as a thank you, we will reimburse you for your entry fee.   We have a bunch of leaders already, but we still several more volunteers.  Specifically we need leaders for half marathon goal times of 1:30, 1:40, 2:15 and 2:30.  Interested?   Email David Harris at David@eastnastyforlife.com for more specifics.

If you are looking to participate we’ll have a detailed outline plus a place to sign up soon, but here are some specifics if you want to plan ahead.   1) We meet on Saturday mornings at 8:00 starting the first Saturday in January through race day.  2) Our running requirement is that you need to be able to run 5 miles without stopping by January 1.  3) We also have free workouts on Thursdays and of course our Wednesday night runs.  4) It’s free.  Look for more details next week.

Reflective Gear

I don't completely understand the rationale behind turning the clock back, all I know is that it's really dark by 6 p.m.    From now on you need to wear something that either reflects or emits light!

Coldest Beer in Town

6 p.m. at the corner of 11th and Holly in East Nashville.

P.S.  Pint night is postponed until next week.  That means you need to grab a friend and visit a local establishment after the run.

PR Bandits Saturday Morning Run – Percy Warner Stone Gates to Radnor Lake O&B

East Nasty is partnering with the ‘PR Bandits’ who are hosting supported long runs on Saturday mornings. Fall is here which means a couple of things; 1. We start later! 2. It's getting cooler! Don't dress for what feels like an arctic freeze when stepping out the door, dress for 15-20* warmer than what it really is.

This weekend we will be starting from the flagpole just inside the stone gates at the end of Belle Meade Blvd at 7am. We will take a trek across Tyne Blvd and if you're feeling frisking, along Radnor Lake before turning back for the complete route. Being an out and back, many will choose to turn back sooner for shorter mileage.

PR Bandits Saturday Morning Run – Shelby Bottoms Taper

East Nasty is partnering with the ‘PR Bandits’ who are hosting supported long runs on Saturday mornings. This weekend is the beginning of fall racing season! It kicks off with the Middle Half and 5k Bier Run on Saturday and the Defeated Creek Half and Chicago Marathon on Sunday. Good luck to all of those participating in a race this weekend!

For those of you with races yet to come, you are likely taking one of your last long runs or are beginning to taper. In an effort to help, we'll stay flat and easy this weekend on the Shelby Bottom's Greenway. We'll start at the Nature Center and complete the 8mile loop. If you need more mileage, you can do the loop again or enjoy the new pedestrian lanes that take you to Nissan Stadium.

Starting at 7AM this Saturday - that is a different time than usual!

Defeated Creek Half Marathon

NRC_2015_FBEvent_DefeatedCreek_01 Up for a challenge? Join Nashville Running Company for the inaugural Defeated Creek Half Marathon! This out-and-back trail race starts at the Defeated Creek campground (about an hour from Nashville), takes racers through the Bearwaller Gap Hiking Trail, past breathtaking views of Cordell Hull Lake, and up to an amazing Scenic Overlook before heading back to Defeated Creek. This is one tough and beautiful race. With its extremely narrow single track, rocky terrain, and ascent of over 2400', this race is NOT for the faint of heart! To qualify, runners must have run one half marathon or race of a longer distance.

Why should you register? Well, for one, NRC is being incredibly kind enough to donate all race proceeds to the Smith County Rescue Squad and also, to us! As a non-profit organization, we never charge for our runs or training programs, so our operating expenses are covered by donations such as these.

And second, trail running is a blast and it's fun to challenge yourself! Our founder, Mark Miller (who will be racing the Defeating Creek Half) wrote this: "Running, by its very nature, attracts people who are driven. And one of the negatives of that is a preoccupation with PR’s. Obviously its fun to run as fast as possible for a particular distance, but its also fun to challenge yourself to run a really hard race. Nashville Running Company is hosting one of those on Sunday, October 18: The Defeated Creek Half Marathon. Let me give you one guarantee: you will not PR! But.. it is a great opportunity to get off the roads and do something really tough."

REGISTER for the race (use the code ENFL for a $5 discount!), and join Mark, Phil, Lee, Beth and the NRC gang for a challenging and beautiful day on the trails while helping to give back to East Nasty!
